Even though the sand kept falling the cart's linear velocity would not change. This is because as the sand falls off the cart it still retains the linear velocity of the cart so momentum of (cart+sand) system is conserved before and after the sand falls off.<BR/><BR/>However, in 1.183 suppose that no force were acting on the cart.
